Member of European Parliament for Southeast England
Daniel Hannan studied Modern History at the University of Oxford and later worked as a journalist and an advocate for Conservative policies. In the European Parliament, Mr. Hannan has been a strong advocate of libertarian and free-market principles and has taken a principled stand against government over-spending in the U.K and throughout Europe. An online video of his speech strongly criticizing Prime Minister Gordon Brown for his response to the global financial crisis has become a viral hit, launching Mr. Hannan's worldwide fame as a promoter of sound fiscal policy and a critic of government excess.
R.J. Smith is a distinguished fellow in environmental policy at CEI. Mr. Smith also serves as director of the Center for Private Conservation (CPC), a former CEI project.
