In late September, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee approved H.R. 2885 (
PDF), the Legal Workforce Act, which would require all American businesses to adopt the federal electronic employment verification system known as E-Verify to screen prospective employees.
On Monday, October 24, CEI hosted a Capitol Hill briefing where regulatory experts discussed how E-Verify will impact American business owners and U.S. workers. The panel, which featured a diverse range of activists and policy analysts from conservative, liberal, and libertarian organizations, offered various perspectives on the economic, regulatory, and privacy implications of H.R. 2885.
