The Competitive Enterprise Institute commends those Senators who voted decisively today, 60 to 38, to reject the McCain-Lieberman amendment to the energy bill to create a centrally-planned energy rationing system for the United States.

Our children and grandchildren will thank them for not condemning them to a future of energy poverty. Senator Inhofe is especially to be applauded for ably making the scientific and economic case against global warming alarmism. We hope that this overwhelming vote will send a strong message to the European Union and the upcoming G-8 Summit.
