Research Intern
Reports to:

Duties Include:
- Researching
- Outlining, editing and proofing speeches and writings
- All other duties as needed
Skills needed:

- Ability to prioritize while working in a fast paced environment

Technology Policy Department
Tech Policy Intern
Reports to:
- Wayne Crews , Vice President for Regulatory Policy, Director of Technology Studies
Duties Include:
- Researching issues such as: broadcast flag, telecom bill, intellectual property, privacy (national ID, biometrics, Internet privacy)
- Identifying how new technologies affect law and policy
- Proposing ways to advocate for legislative and regulatory reform
- Possibility of publishing in CEI publication or outside publications
- All other duties as needed
Skills needed:
- A solid understanding of Internet and computer technologies and of the principles of economics and government
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Tech savvy
- Libertarian
Communications Department
Media Intern
Reports to:
- Christine Hall, Communications Director
Duties Include:
- Archiving CEI materials
- Assisting with New Media projects
- Assisting with video production
- Making news clips
- All other duties as needed in the Publications, Web and Media Relations departments
Skills needed:
- Strong writing and communication skills a must
- Experience in editing and proofreading a plus
- Video/Audio production/editing skills a plus
- Basic computer skills
- Familiarity with web design, graphics, Photoshop, programming, HTML, all a major plus
- Knowledge of social networks, web applications etc a plus
Reports to:
- Sam Kazman, General Counsel
Duties Include:
- Assisting with the Free Market Legal Program/”Death by Regulation” Project
- Research on regulatory and legal issues in such areas as:
- the health impacts of delays in the availability of new medical drugs and devices - the real costs of energy efficiency mandates.
- environmentalist attitudes towards affordable energy
- legal research for ongoing and planned litigation
Skill needed:
- Ability to understand and research technical and legal literature
Global Warming and Energy Policy Department
Global Warming and Energy Intern
Reports to:
- Myron Ebell , Director of Global Warming and Energy Policy
Duties Include:
- Researching
- Writing
- Attending meetings and Congressional hearings
- Helping to arrange meetings and events
- Clerical tasks
- All other duties as needed
Skills Needed:
- Undergraduate degree in Communications or English preferred
- Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Research)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work well with others
Environmental Risk Department
Environmental Risk Intern
Reports to:
- Angela Logomasini, Director of Risk and Environmental Policy
Duties Include:
- Researching issues such as: health and safety aspects of consumer products, private conservation/ecology, environment as “religion”, invasive species, ocean policy, groundwater protection, airshed management and more
- Possibility of publishing in CEI publication or outside publications
- Clerical tasks
- All other duties as needed

- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
- Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Research)

Center for Investors & Entrepreneurs
Finance Policy Intern
Reports to:
- John Berlau, Director of the Center for Investors and Entrepreneurs
Duties Include:
- Research on financial/business regulation
- Assist with study in such areas as: Sarbanes-Oxley, mortgage crisis, small busines regulation, investment industry regulation, economic policy
Skill needed:
- General knowledge of financial system
- Ability to understand and research technical and financial literature
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Background in economics or finance a plus
International Trade Policy
Trade Policy Intern
Reports to:
- Fran Smith, CEI Board Member and Adjunct Fellow www.soursubsidies.org
Duties Include:
- Researching
- Writing
- Attending meetings and congressional hearings
- Helping to plan and arrange seminars, meetings and Congressional visits
- All other duties as needed
Skills Needed:
- Graduate Student in international economics or international trade
- Basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Research)
- Excellent research. Writing and communication skills
- Must be well organized

Development/Fundraising Department
Development Intern
Reports to:
- Jody Clarke, Vice President for Development
Duties Include:
- Researching potential donors and supporters of CEI
- Help with administrative tasks such as mailings and database entry
Skills Needed:
- Good research skills , familiarity with internet research resources a plus
General & Administrative Department
Administrative Intern
Reports to:

of Finance and Operations
Duties Include:
- Assisting with event coordination and preparation
- Document filing
- All other duties as needed
Skills Needed:
- Great organizational skills
- Knowledge of computer programs like Word and Adobe
- Patience and drive
- Ability to work well with little or no supervision

Information Technology Department
IT Intern
Reports to:
- Ryan Lynch, Director of IT/Web Development
Duties Include:
- Assist with maintenance of office computers
- Assist with network administration
- Assistance with some webpage maintenance
Skills/Knowledge Needed:
- Operating system troubleshooting
- Building/re-building computers
- Network administration
Skills not required, but a plus:
- Familiarity with MySQL
- HTML, PHP, ColdFusion or ASP
