Washington, D.C. October 19, 1998 – The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) is pleased to announce that Angela Logomasini has joined the staff of CEI as Director of Risk and Environmental Policy.

Angela comes to CEI from the office of Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), where she worked as his legislative assistant, covering environment, energy, and science and technology issues. Before joining Senator Brownback’s staff she worked for the Research Institute of America as their Environmental/New Products Editor. Prior to that, she was Director of Solid Waste Policy at Citizens for a Sound Economy. Angela received her Masters in Congressional Studies from Catholic University in 1992.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute is well known as the home to the largest free-market environmental program in Washington, D.C. Focusing on issues ranging from global warming to endangered species, CEI advocates a free market approach to environmental public policy problems. Angela will help build on CEI’s success by directing the Institute’s work on Superfund, solid and hazardous waste, recycling, toxics, air quality and related issues.

Angela will work alongside CEI environmental directors James Sheehan (Director of International Environmental Policy) and Michael DeAlessi (Director of the Center for Private Conservation. Jonathan Adler, back from his fellowship with the Political Economy Research Center in Bozeman, Montana, will oversee CEI’s environmental policy directors in the new position of Senior Director of Environmental Policy. In addition, CEI has hired Daniel Simmons as an Environmental Research Assistant to work on land and natural resource issues.

Earlier this year, CEI’s Fellow in Wildlife and Land-Use Policy Ike Sugg returned to his native Texas to become Executive Director of the Exotic Wildlife Association in Kerrville. In addition, Deputy Director of Environmental Studies Jonathan Tolman will be leaving CEI this fall to work for the House Republican Policy Committee.
