Washington, D.C., February 14, 2007—The Bureaucrash Activist Network  and allies are urging Egyptian officials to free imprisoned Egyptian blogger Abdelkareem Nabil Soliman and stand up for free speech and civil rights. On Thursday, February 15, concerned citizens will rally outside the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau in Washington, D.C. to send the message that the writer known to millions online as Kareem Amer is not forgotten.
The Washington demonstration will be held in concert with others around the world. Currently, events are planned in New York City, London, Paris, Rome, Ottawa and Bucharest.
"Kareem is charged with ‘highlighting inappropriate aspects that harm the reputation of Egypt and spreading them to the public,’" said Bureaucrash Crasher-in-Chief Jason Talley. "Egyptian authorities now must deal with individuals from all over the world who are highlighting their inappropriate treatment of Abdelkareem Nabil Soliman."
