Recent tea party protests targeted wasteful government spending, such as President Barack Obama’s $800 billion stimulus package, which the Congressional Budget Office says will actually shrink the economy “in the long run.”
Where was I during the Bush administration? I publicly criticized President George W. Bush for excessive spending, such as his prescription drug benefit and his bailout of banks, insurers and automakers. Indeed, I even argued that Bush’s auto bailout was illegal.
By contrast, the liberal congressional leaders who attacked the tea party protests all voted for those bailouts, which ripped off taxpayers and wasted billions of dollars.
