CEI has joined a coalition urging Congress to maintain the spending restraint established by the Budget Control Act of 2011(BCA). The BCA established limits on discretionary spending through FY 2021 including a cap of $967 billion for FY 2014.
CEI has sent a letter to Congress opposing a mandatory national E-Verify electronic employment verification system. Over 40 organizations signed onto the letter, which suggests several reforms to mitigate the harmful effects of E-Verify. Signatories include the ACLU and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
