The Dutch Supreme Court on December 20th rejected an appeal by the Dutch government to overturn an appellate court’s October 2018 decision to uphold a lower court’s June 2015 decision requiring the government to cut Holland’s carbon dioxide emissions at least 25 percent below 1990 levels by 2020.

Back in September, I posted a rebuttal to pollster Frank Luntz, who advised President Trump on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News program to promote E85—motor fuel blended with 51-83 percent ethanol. Luntz claimed that by stumping for E85 and flex-fuel vehicles, Trump could make America “energy independent” by election day 2020 while giving Republicans a “real solution” to climate change without the “craziness” of Green New Deal. I suggested Luntz was hawking corporate welfare for corn farmers.

The House Ways and Means Committee on November 19th released a draft of its “Growing Renewable Energy and Efficiency Now (GREEN) Act” (summary). The sponsors propose to extend, increase, and create tax credits for various non-fossil energy-related technologies, such as electric vehicles, wind turbines, and solar panels.

The Future of Science in EPA Rulemaking.” Most of the witnesses and committee Democrats pilloried EPA’s April 2018 proposed rule to strengthen the transparency of regulatory science. Why is that proposal newsworthy now? Because on Monday, The New York Times published a leaked non-finalized supplement to the rule.
