Regulatory Report Card: FCC

Full Document Available in PDF

It may come as a surprise that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is the third most expensive branch of federal regulation, costing an estimated $142 billion per year.  Only the Department of Health and Human Services ($184.8 billion) and Environmental Protection Agency ($353 billion) cost more.

That fact is not readily apparent due to an alarming lack of transparency. Important information such as the number of FCC regulations in the books, how many more are on the way, and how much they cost are scattered in a range of different, often obscure sources. That’s why CEI has released a new Regulatory Report Card for the FCC putting all this diffuse information into one place.
