Events Manager

The Competitive Enterprise Institute seeks an organized, entrepreneurial individual to assist in the management of nearly 50 annual events. The Events Manager reports to the Director of Events and will work across departments on the logistics, planning, and execution of events including the Julian L. Simon Memorial Award Dinner, CEI Summit, regional events, conferences, Capitol Hill briefings, online, and hybrid events to raise brand awareness and maximize outreach.

Research Fellow

The Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Center for Technology and Innovation seeks a Research Fellow for a one-year, potentially renewable, position in tech policy studies.

The chosen candidate will perform and assist with research on longer-term issues, but also must be comfortable working in a sometimes fast-paced media cycle. He or she will be responsible for tracking legislation, following tech news and briefing other team members. Other responsibilities may include attending events (either online or in-person), assisting with various administrative tasks and coordinating with CEI’s media and development departments.

Philanthropy Associate

The Competitive Enterprise Institute seeks a Philanthropy Associate to execute data management, record-keeping, and administrative support for an experienced development team of five. This position is most suitable for an individual with 1 to 4 years of experience in fundraising and/or sales, with strong communication and organizational skills. Flexibility, team cooperation, an ability to juggle multiple tasks, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep attention to detail are all essential.

CEI’s offices are located in downtown Washington, DC. Relocation expense will not be provided. Expected travel outside of metro Washington, DC is minimal, and likely to be no more than once per year. There is opportunity for growth in this position, with respect to both additional responsibilities and greater autonomy in work. CEI often prefers to hire for new positions from within the organization.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute internship program gives interested students and recent college graduates the opportunity to learn about and promote the principles of limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty.  We pair interns with members of CEI’s staff for a direct mentorship experience.
