Carrie Sheffield was the 2015 Warren Brookes Journalism Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. She is a columnist and broadcaster in Manhattan. An online contributor with Forbes, she is a regular guest on national television and radio shows.

She hosted an online TV show for The Washington Times and has appeared on Fox News, Fox Business Network, MSNBC, HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, and The Blaze.

Carrie has written for The Wall Street Journal, TIME, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, American Spectator and Daily Caller.

After beginning her journalism career in Washington with the late columnist Robert Novak, she covered Congress for The Hill newspaper and was a founding reporter at POLITICO. She later wrote editorials for The Washington Times under the late Tony Blankley.

Passionate about foreign affairs, Carrie reported on the 25th anniversary of perestroika in Moscow, North-South Korean relations from Seoul, the Beijing Olympics in China, and Egyptian political reforms in Cairo. She also wrote on geopolitical positioning and freedom of speech in Qatar and was a correspondent for The Jerusalem Post covering the Israeli parliament.

Carrie earned a master’s in public policy from Harvard University, concentrating in business policy. She spent several years in the financial services industry, as a bond analyst for Moody’s and credit risk analyst for Goldman Sachs. After earning a B.A. in communications at Brigham Young University, she completed a Fulbright fellowship in Berlin.

A New York Leader at the Foreign Policy Initiative, Carrie serves on the communications committee for 100 Women in Hedge Funds, a 501c3 expanding opportunities in education and health.
