FEATURE: Reins Act Introduced in House

 

This week, U.S. Rep. Todd Young introduced the Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, a regulatory reform bill originally proposed in the 112th Congress by now-former Congressman Geoff Davis. This time, the bill has 121 co-sponsors. CEI experts issued a statement praising the bill, arguing it could be a chance to bring accountability to Washington. Read the statement here.

January 24, 2013: Gov. McDonnell’s Transportation Plan

 

Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell recently released a headline-grabbing plan for the state’s transportation funding that would abolish the state’s gasoline tax and raise other taxes to make up the difference. Land-use and Transportation Policy Analyst Marc Scribner is critical of the plan, and prefers policies that fit the user-pays, user-benefits principle.
