CEI releases the full global warming report that was suppressed by the Environmental Protection Agency.

CEI Expert Available to Comment: General Counsel Sam Kazman on the importance of making the study public

“While we hoped that EPA would release the final report, we’re tired of waiting for this agency to become transparent, even though its Administrator has been talking transparency since she took office. So we are releasing a draft version of the report ourselves, today.”

2. BUSINESS

Climate change legislation in the House could lead to a trade war with China.

CEI Expert Available to Comment: Adjunct Fellow Fran Smith on the threat we face

“Perhaps the main threat, however, is to the whole economy of the U.S. Countries like China and India won’t sit back and take this blow to their exports. They will likely retaliate with trade measures against the U.S. possibly affecting a broader range of products. In fact, China’s top climate change official Li Gao had suggested that countries importing goods from China might themselves pay for the emissions created in their production.”

3. POLITICS

The Stimulus Watch website holds public officials to account for the taxpayer money they spend.

CEI Expert Available to Comment: Senior Attorney Hans Bader on some of the unexpected results the stimulus package:

“The stimulus package also repealed welfare reform, as Slate’s Mickey Kaus and the Heritage Foundation have noted. Obama ran campaign ads claiming to support welfare reform, even though he had actually fought against meaningful welfare reform as an Illinois legislator. The stimulus package largely repeals the welfare-reform law passed by Congress in 1996.”
