Despite the fact that expensive public pensions are exacerbating current economic problems, government employee unions are maintaining their influence with policymakers.

Policy Analyst Ivan Osorio explains.

“Government employee unions are the principal lobby for increasingly generous public employee compensation, and their ability to negotiate directly with government officials over the expenditure of government resources is a perk that no private party enjoys.”
