E&E Legal recently released documents obtained through FOIA from various state attorneys general offices that show communications among instrumental players in coordinating the March 29, 2016 press conference on combatting climate change. The emails allegedly show "The offices of New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (D), and other politically-aligned AGs, secretly team[ing] up with anti-fossil fuel activists in their investigations against groups whose political speech challenged the global warming policy agenda."

The Competitive Enterprise Institute was subpoenaed by one of those AGs on April 7, 2016.

CEI General Counsel Sam Kazman said, “While publicly these AGs have claimed to be uniting to combat climate change, these emails show that behind the scenes this is just another targeted and coordinated campaign from extreme environmentalists to come after their enemies. Instead of calling themselves ‘AGs United for Clean Power,’ perhaps they’re actually ‘AGs United for More Power.’”
