Banning Oil Drilling Harms the Environment

Congress has banned drilling for oil in much of America, even barren, desolate Arctic land, cutting our domestic oil supply.  The ban harms the environment in two ways.  First, it forces drilling overseas, to Third World countries like Nigeria, where inept handling of oil wells routinely results in massive environmental contamination.  (By contrast, American oil wells are so well cared-for that they didn’t spill oil even when they were struck by the full force of Hurricane Katrina, and American oil wells operate without incident even on famous wildlife refuges and bird sanctuaries).  Second, if we drilled for oil rather than subsidizing ethanol production, we would all be better off, since ethanol subsidies and mandates are destroying the environment, fostering political extremism and unrest, and causing starvation and rioting across the world.
