Avastin is a drug now used by women fighting late-stage breast cancer. This week, an FDA advisory panel voted to revoke approval for Avastin, pointing to clinical studies that show the drug only benefits a small number of patients. CEI Senior Fellow Gregory Conko sharply criticized the FDA’s vote when it was announced on Wednesday. Conko earlier penned a Wall Street Journal op-ed and appeared on CNBC’s Closing Bell to defend patients’ right to choose for themselves whether or not to try Avastin.
