Greenpeace: Put up, or shut up
Business leaders in the land of the rising sun have gone kamikaze on energy efficiency. According to a front page story in the Wall Street Journal today, the newest rage in Japanese business culture is “Cool Biz,” a pointed effort to reduce energy consumption by keeping office buildings at a balmy 82 degrees F.
The article quoted a Japanese physician who said that, from a physiological standpoint, an 82 degree office is no problem…if you are thin and naked.
Which brings me to Greenpeace. For years, that organization has maintained that conservation is America’s most abundant source of electricity. During these final few weeks of summer-like heat, perhaps the Greenpeace office in Washington DC would be willing to walk the walk, and turn off the AC?
