Media Double Standards

Why is it that when a second-rate televangelist you’ve never heard of cheats on his wife, the media give it tons of coverage — but the media are totally disinterested when the sanctimonious trial lawyer (and former Senator) John Edwards cheats on his wife (indeed, a Los Angeles Times editor tried to enforce a cover-up)?  Mickey Kaus wonders why this double standard exists, and rebuts the rationalizations given for it by media flacks and others.
