NFL Network Angry Again

The NFL Network (NFLN) has been quite aggressive in its demands for cable providers to include it in their lineups. Back in 2006, Adam Thierer reported on TechLiberation that NFLN was demanding that the FCC take action against Time Warner for dropping the football channel. Now, NFLN is complaining that Comcast puts it on a higher-priced sports tier than some of Comcast’s own channels. But NFLN’s licensing fees are more than twice that of similar sports networks! If you want your content to be available more widely, charge less for it. Don’t complain to the government to force cable companies to carry your network.
