NYT: Unions for thee, not for me

Shopfloor.org draws a stark contrast between The New York Times‘s stated position on unions for other employers, and its own laying off of union workers.

This hypocrisy is especially pernicious in that the Times‘s editorial cited here favors the mandatory card check bill known as the “Employee Free Choice Act,” which would allow unions to circumvent secret ballot elections when organizing workers. So as the Times seeks to curb its own labor costs, it seeks to actually decrease other employers’ ability to do the same. (Thanks to Hans Bader for the shopfloor.org link.)
