RealClear Radio Hour: Polarizing Media & Intellectual Safety

Across the country, college campuses have been the center of free speech controversy. Unrest among students has triggered massive news coverage but it appears mainstream media outlets are giving the general public a misleading narrative. We tackle the topic of free speech in higher education on this week’s RealClear Radio Hour with two expert guests.

My first guest is a brilliant commentary writer for The Washington Examiner, Ashe Schow. She discusses the hype and hoaxes in recent news coverage of campus issues, as well as of the “war on women,” and how biased reporting has caused public trust in the media to fall to a historical low.

In the second half of the show I’m joined by Brookings Institution senior fellow and renowned free speech advocate Jonathan Rauch. He explains how the recent campus uproars for freedom from offense are antithetical to one of the core missions of a university: a robust exchange of ideas.
