RealClear Radio Hour: Populism’s Critic & Supranational Heresy

This week on RealClear Radio Hour we take issue with political movements in Latin America and across Europe.

I caught up with Gloria Alvarez at CPAC 2016. Gloria is an activist, radio host, and project manager at the National Civic Movement (MCN) in Guatemala. We discussed the history of the caudillos, the machinery of populism in Latin America, and her work with the grassroots social movement MCN—to empower citizens, restore individual rights, and rescue republican institutions.

My second guest this week is Todd Huizinga, U.S. diplomat from 1992-2012, director of International Outreach at the Acton Institute, and author of The New Totalitarian Temptation: Global Governance and the Crisis of Democracy in Europe. Huizinga warns of the risks to both individual liberty and national sovereignty posed by a creeping globalist world order.

You can hear the discussion by listening to the full show as-aired on iTunes, or you can check out the podcasts hosted on YouTube and SoundCloud. Make sure to check back next week for another episode of RealClear Radio Hour.
