Schwarzenegger Urges Restoration of Right to Home-School
Reacting to a California Court of Appeal decision declaring that there is no constitutional right to home-school one’s child, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger “said Friday he would go to the legislature if the ruling is not overturned.” The California teachers unions have indicated that they will fight any legislation to permit home schooling.
Earlier, I discussed the court ruling, and the poor quality of many California public schools (which drives many parents to home-school their children). The rotten public schools in Washington, D.C., which are among the nation’s worst, are also seeking to eliminate competition from home schooling by cracking down on home schoolers. I discussed earlier why there logically should be a constitutional right to home-school one’s child, and why arguments against home schooling by left-wing academics should be rejected (see here, here, and here)
