The Unions Like Puppies, Too

“Organized Labor Pushes Pro-Worker Agenda,” reads the headline of a November 14 Associated Press news story. It is safe to assume that this is the original AP headline, since the story was picked up, with the exact same headline, by dozens of major news outlets, including the New York Times, Washington Post, CBS News, ABC News, Houston Chronicle, San Jose Mercury News, Business Week, and, yes, even the media bane of Blue America, Fox News. Bias? Read the story. Reporter Will Lester describes a laundry list of union-backed legislative proposals thus:

Labor also wants:

_Changes in the Medicare prescription drug program to introduce price negotiations with pharmaceutical companies.

_Changes in bankruptcy laws that allow companies to abandon pension and health care commitments to workers.

_Trade agreements that protect workers’ rights.

_Improved mining safety laws.

_Increased retirement protections.

And how would Lester describe those who disagree with organized labor’s agenda? I hope it’s fit to print in a family newspaper.
