Biden Administration Continues Push Toward Electric Vehicles
KSNV-TV NBC cites Senior Fellow Ben Lieberman on the realities energy alternatives:
“So we’re going from energy dominance in coal, oil and natural gas to dependence on the minerals required to utilize alternatives to fossil fuels,” said Ben Lieberman, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
A recent report by the U.S. Geological survey indicates America is increasingly dependent on China, buying more than half of the key minerals used in electric vehicle batters, solar panels and wind turbines. Many say worse environmental standards for digging and processing are a growing problem as America races to meet Biden’s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
“If you do think EV’s are a good idea, if you do think wind energy is a good idea, you’d better start thinking about mining as also a good idea because you can’t have one without the other,” Lieberman said.
