Politico's Morning Energy discusses with Sam Kazman the subpoena from Attorney General Claude Walker to CEI and other organizations as part of an intimidation campaign to silence the debate on climate change. 

VIRGIN ISLANDS AG'S SWEEPING SUBPOENA: Virgin Islands Attorney General Claude Walker's subpoena in its investigation into whether ExxonMobil concealed the dangers of climate change asks for communications between the petroleum giant and over 100 universities and thanks tanks, the Washington Times reports. The paper's review of the unredacted subpoena reveals a request for communications between Exxon and Heritage Foundation, the Cato Institute, the Heartland Institute, University of Alabama climate scientist and regular Congressional witness John Christy, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and many others.

Competitive Enterprise Institute general counsel Sam Kazman, whose organization is also the target of a Walker subpoena, responded to the story, saying, "Exxon’s subpoena reveals an astounding number of organizations and individuals targeted by these AGs, which further proves it is not only CEI’s First Amendment rights at risk, but anyone who holds different opinions than these government officials, whether that is on climate change or any other issue.”
