When
Join us for an expert panel discussion on the case against carbon taxes. Debates on Capitol Hill around the Green New Deal have reinvigorated the call for carbon taxes. Proponents of carbon taxes often claim that they offer a free market alternative to more radical environmental policies like the Green New Deal. Our panel will articulate why carbon taxes are not a free market alternative to the Green New Deal, explore the disastrous costs and consequences of this policy suggestion, and caution lawmakers against distorting the climate debate with a flawed response.
The panel discussion will feature James Lucier’s recently published report, The Carbon Tax: Analysis of Six Potential Scenarios. The analysis uses scoring conventions similar to those used by the Congressional Budget Office to model and evaluate the economic impacts of carbon taxes.
