Please join the Competitive Enterprise Institute in Savannah, Georgia—the city Fast Company calls “the Business Belle of the South”—for the third annual CEI Summit, a private gathering of CEI scholars, friends, and supporters.
CEI experts Wayne Crews, Sam Kazman, Marlo Lewis, Jessica Melugin, Michelle Minton, Iain Murray, Daniel Press, Ryan Radia, and Marc Scribner will lead the discussions. They will cover a range of key issues—including regulatory dark matter, the prospects of driverless cars, and the future of FinTech—and detail how CEI is combatting misguided policies like antitrust, renewable energy mandates, and the lingering effects of Prohibition. The program will also feature esteemed guest speakers:
- Aaron Brown, former chief risk manager at AQR Capital and author of The Poker Face of Wall Street, will lead a dinner conversation on the coming cryptocurrency revolution. Aaron will unravel the foresight and contemporary implications of Friedrich Hayek’s seminal 1973 article, The Denationalization of Money, and the current radical innovation of bitcoin. Will trustless value exchange on the Internet, intermediated by cryptocurrencies, change ownership and identity? You may never own or use cryptocurrencies, but if you live until 2030, Brown argues, they will change who you are, what you own, and what you can do.
- Reason co-founder and scholar Robert Poole will outline a radical, economic solution for transforming our failing roads as described in his new book, Rethinking America’s Highways: A 21st Century Vision for Better Infrastructure.
- Economics columnist John Tamny will honor the incomparable genius of the late Warren Brookes and discuss the legacy of Brookes’s The Economy in Mind.
- American Enterprise Institute scholar Peter Wallison will discuss his strategy to reverse executive agency overreach, which is the core of his new book, Judicial Fortitude: The Last Chance to Rein in the Administrative State.
