In his forthcoming book, Jonathan Rauch—a lifelong atheist—explores the vital role Christianity plays to sustain American democracy and our constitutional order. He critiques the rise of political factions replacing spirituality with politics. Rauch calls for “a positive realignment” between faith and liberalism, emphasizing that religious institutions are essential to preserve liberal democracy and religious freedom.
Please join CEI for a discussion with Jonathan Rauch on his new book, Cross Purposes: Christianity’s Broken Bargain with Democracy, in conversation with Kent Lassman. They will discuss how elevating the fundamental tenets of Christianity can help mend a divided nation.
