CEI toasted its 40th anniversary Julian L. Simon Memorial Award Dinner at the Washington National Cathedral. This year’s Prometheus: Rebel for Humanity dinner was inspired by the Greek titan who stole fire from the gods to give humankind light, progress, and empathy. African prosperity activist and author of The Heart of a Cheetah, Magatte Wade, won the 2024 Julian L. Simon Memorial Award for advancing Simon’s vision of humankind as the ultimate resource. Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist George F. Will delivered the keynote and accepted the Prometheus Award for Human Achievement for being a civic, intellectual, and political titan of our age. Throughout the night, dinner guests heard remarks from CEI’s Mistress of Ceremonies Jessica Melugin, Board Chairman Richard Tren, President and CEO Kent Lassman, and Writer in Residence Kevin D. Williamson. CEI reflected on 40 years of policy advocacy in This is 40 and debuted its comedic short National Lagoon’s Policy House. Guests celebrated Prometheus with a fire and LED performance from Cirque Lumina.
