D. Joseph Olson was Michigan Commissioner of Insurance from 1995 to 1997 and Chairman of the Board of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy from 1986-1995 and from 1998-present. He is a member of the state bars of Michigan and Texas and served as chief legal officer of Citizens Insurance Company of America from 1979 to 1995 and of the Amerisure Insurance Companies from 1997 to 2008.
