Washington, D.C., March 20, 2007—While former Vice President Al Gore prepares for his star appearance before committees in both the House and the Senate, the Competitive Enterprise Institute urges viewers to examine another perspective on the global warming debate. CEI in particular takes exception to many of the alarming predictions and scenarios outlined in Gore’s book and film, An Inconvenient Truth.
“While it purports to be non-partisan, non-ideological expositions of climate science and moral common-sense, An Inconvenient Truth, in both its versions, is actually a colorfully illustrated lawyer’s brief for global warming alarmism and energy rationing,” said CEI Senior Fellow Marlo Lewis, Jr. “The only facts and studies Gore considers are those convenient to his scare-them-green agenda. And in numerous instances, he distorts the evidence he cites.”
Lewis is also author of Al Gore’s Science Fiction: A Skeptics Guide to An Inconvenient Truth, an exhaustive study rebutting the many assertions made by Gore about global warming that are either one-sided, misleading, exaggerated, speculative or wrong.
