Biden Administration Proposes New Methane Rule that Will Harm Domestic Energy Production, Raise Prices

The Environmental Protection Agency announced a proposed rule today mandating reductions in methane from fossil fuel production. President Biden announced the proposed rule during a speech at the United Nation’s COP27 conference in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt earlier today.

CEI senior fellow Ben Lieberman said:

“This proposed rule would add to the long list of Biden Administration measures discouraging domestic oil and natural gas production, threatening industry jobs while adding to the upward pressure on prices.”
