Biden administration releases extreme five-year plan for offshore oil and gas lease sales
The Biden Administration released a new five-year plan for offshore oil and gas leases, approving just three lease sales.
Director of CEI’s Center for Energy and Environment Daren Bakst said:
“Americans are experiencing serious pain at the pump, with monthly gas prices at or near record highs. So what does the Biden administration do? It pushes the most extreme five-year plan for offshore oil and gas lease sales in history, with just three potential lease sales. This comes after the administration cancelled seven oil and gas leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and proposed a rule that would severely limit oil and gas leasing in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska (NPR-A).
“Pushing policies that will drive up energy prices for Americans is bad enough, but the administration is actually boasting about its actions. Hurting the economic well-being of Americans, especially low-income households, is nothing to be proud of.
“Congress needs to push back and it needs to make this a top priority. Energy is the lifeblood of our economy and it impacts every facet of our lives. Policymakers need to use everything in their policy arsenal to combat the Biden administration’s war on energy.”
