Biden Labor Department withdraws controversial apprenticeship rule opposed by CEI
On November 27, the Biden administration withdrew the Department of Labor’s proposed rule imposing costly, burdensome requirements on everyone involved in federal apprenticeship programs. CEI opposed the rule and applauds its withdrawal.
“As CEI explained in a comment it submitted to the Department of Labor, the proposed rule would have generated paperwork and red tape for their own sake and no particular purpose,” said David S. McFadden, CEI attorney. “Without authority based in the National Apprenticeship Act, the rule also contained vague requirements of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and issued unwarranted commands to state agencies. We look forward to further manifestations of self-control by the federal government.”
