Bust Up Microsoft? CEI Weighs In

Statement of James L. Gattuso, Vice President, and Clyde Wayne Crews, Director, Competition and Regulation Policy, April 28, 2000

“The extreme plan presented this afternoon for the fragmentation of Microsoft is economically, legally, and morally wrong. It would be a disaster for consumers and innovation. The new government-created companies would be less able to provide consumers with the benefits they now enjoy from the Internet revolution. But far more important, such action would send a message to every innovator in America: ‘Don’t succeed too well, you will be punished.’”
