Competitive Enterprise Institute Vice President for Strategy Iain Murray examines February’s jobs numbers and cautions that the administration’s trade policies have the potential to undo the positive growth:

“The strong jobs numbers today provide yet more evidence that supply-side measures such as tax cuts and deregulation are working. Moreover, there is little evidence of the inflationary pressure some were worried about, indicating that the economy is growing just as quickly as jobs. There is evidence that many areas of the country are not yet sharing in the bonanza, however, which suggests that policy makers should further clear away unneeded red tape in areas like the environment and finance. The Senate’s passing of Dodd-Frank reform next week would be a great help. The only shadow cast on this bright outlook is the President’s trade policy, which threatens to erase all of these gains.”
