CEI Endorses POWER Act to Halt Biden Administration Bans on Energy and Mineral Leasing on Federal Lands

Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) today introduced the Protecting Our Wealth of Energy Resources (POWER) Act, which, if enacted, would prohibit the Biden Administration from blocking energy or mineral leasing on federal lands or waters without approval from Congress.

Director of CEI’s Center for Energy and Environment Myron Ebell endorses the POWER Act and applauds Senator Lummis for introducing it:

“CEI strongly supports the POWER Act and applauds Senator Lummis and her cosponsors for responding so quickly to President Biden’s capricious action. The suspension of oil, gas, and coal leasing on federal lands will throw thousands of people out of work and poses a huge threat to the economic future of large areas of the intermountain West, and particularly to Wyoming and New Mexico.”
