CEI Response to Wyoming Fracking Ruling

The Competitive Enterprise Institute’s William Yeatman responded today to the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming’s ruling striking down a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) hydraulic fracturing rule.

“Judge Skavdahl’s ruling striking down the Bureau of Land Management’s fracking rule is a welcome check on agency self-aggrandizement. BLM is a creature of Congress that does not possess an independent source of authority to expand its regulatory purview on its own initiative. Alas, attempted power grabs such as the BLM’s fracking rule are inherent in a presidency that spurns Congress to instead govern by phone or pen.”
