CEI is delighted that the renowned Hoover Institution has chosen CEI Senior Fellow James Broughel as a Visiting Fellow for its Small Business Regulation program. Under the auspices of Hoover’s State and Local Governance Initiative, the organization aims to bring esteemed scholars on board to analyze the impact of state-level regulation on small business formation and success.

“I am delighted to be part of this project, where my focus will be on investigating how state environmental permitting reforms and practices impact small businesses,” said Broughel. “Permitting reform will be critical in the years ahead as the U.S. struggles to meet its energy and environmental goals. Small businesses in particular stand to benefit from reforms, as they tend to be disproportionately burdened by regulation.”
