In response to the introduction of this bill, CEI Senior Fellow Ben Lieberman said:

“Just like the Green New Deal, S. 2754, the “American Innovation and Manufacturing Act,” will boost costs for millions of Americans in the name of addressing climate change. The bad impacts will be widespread. The bill restricts the refrigerants currently used in vehicle air conditioners, residential air conditioners and refrigerators, as well as the equipment used in millions of small businesses like restaurants and convenience stores. Both the cost of repairing existing systems and that of buying new ones will increase. The big winners will be the chemical companies that have patented a number of expensive substitute compounds that are likely to spike even higher if competing refrigerants are pushed aside by this bill.”
