The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) welcomes Kent Lassman as its new president and chief executive officer. Lassman brings more than twenty years of experience in free-market public affairs, fundraising, and public policy to his role at CEI, which will officially begin on April 6, 2016.

Chairman of CEI’s Board of Directors, Todd Zywicki, said, “Twelve months from now our country will be under new leadership and CEI will be continuing to press on in its fight for liberty. CEI has built a reputation for determination and unwavering pursuit of a more free economy, which is why I’m thrilled our next president shares those same qualities. The Board is very pleased that Kent Lassman will guide CEI into this next chapter. His vigor and determination have been proven throughout his career advancing free-market ideas and we look forward to him leading the charge at CEI.”

An avid triathlete and father of four, Lassman is no stranger to overcoming obstacles, a trait that will serve him well as he takes on this new role in the fight for liberty. His past experience includes testimony before Congress, state legislatures, and in regulatory proceedings. His research has covered a variety of topics from the federal budget and Progressivism in America to electricity and technology policy. Having held positions at nonprofit organizations, on advisory councils, in private firms, and policy organizations, Lassman is a recognized expert in free-market economics and strategic marketing for the principles necessary for individual and economic freedom to flourish.

“For more than three decades, the Competitive Enterprise Institute has served as a bulwark against regulatory aggressions on personal liberty and free enterprise,” CEI’s new President and CEO Kent Lassman said. “Too often the instinct in government is to regulate now, analyze later. CEI is the place where reasoned analysis meets the aggressive marketing of ideas to ensure our government remains limited in its purposes, private enterprise can flourish, and individual liberty is paramount. I'm delighted to join the fray and look forward to the opportunity to expand the boundaries of freedom."
