The Competitive Enterprise Institute is pleased to announce its complete speaker line up for the annual Julian L. Simon Memorial Award Dinner on Thursday, September 15. The gala celebrates Julian Simon’s vision of mankind as the ultimate resource.

“Undercover Economist” Tim Harford will deliver the keynote address. He is a Financial Times columnist, BBC broadcaster, author of nine books—including, most recently, The Data Detective—and host of the podcast Cautionary Tales. He was described by the New Statesman as “perhaps the best popular economics writer in the world.”

Tech and crypto pioneer Balaji Srinivasan will accept the 2022 Julian L. Simon Memorial Award. Srinivasan is angel investor, serial entrepreneur, and author of the new book The Network State: How To Start a New Country.

“The Competitive Enterprise Institute welcomes Balaji Srinivasan to the legacy of Julian L. Simon for contributions to technological and political decentralization that promote human ingenuity and thriving communities,” said Kent Lassman, CEI president.

National Review’s Charles C. W. Cooke will emcee the event. He is a senior writer for the magazine, co-host of the Mad Dogs and Englishmen podcast, and author of The Conservatarian Manifesto.

With the return of 1970s politics—staggering inflation, gas shortages, and cultural upheaval—the event is aptly themed: Stayin’ Alive: Disco Night at the Museum.
