FDA deserves credit for approval pancreatic cancer drug

The FDA on August 26 approved a new breakthrough drug to treat pancreatic cancer. CEI Senior Fellow and Economist Jeremy Nighohossian praised regulators for expediting the approval process for such an important treatment:

“Drug innovators continue to push technology and medicine forward. The new treatment just approved by the FDA will extend lives for people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, a particularly aggressive disease with a notoriously low survival rate. Patients and their loved ones will now be able to spend more precious time together thanks to an expedited FDA approval process. It demonstrates how medicine is advancing incredibly quickly, and regulators need to, and can, keep up so that the patients can benefit.”
