In Praise of the Late Walter E. Williams

Legendary economist and free market champion Walter E. Williams passed away this week at the age of 84. Competitive Enterprise Institute President Kent Lassman praised his legacy of wisdom and wit:

“Economics is often described as dismal but, with Walter Williams as your guide, it pulses with life and is always rooted in how people actually behave. From legendary stories of his brash actions as an Army private to consistent, principled critiques of political correctness and economically ignorant conventional wisdom, Professor Williams set a standard for how to persuade and engage skeptical audiences.  He was charming, generous, funny, and deeply instrumental to the development and spread of ideas that improve our lives.  His clarity of thinking and the enthusiasm of his communications are already missed.  May he rest in peace.”
