The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) is pleased to announce the hiring of Mario Loyola as a senior fellow. Mr. Loyola joins CEI after serving as associate director for regulatory reform at the White House’s Council on Environmental Quality, where he helped formulate policy related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other environmental regulations, and worked as a presidential speechwriter. At CEI, Mr. Loyola will work on issues related to energy and the environment, federalism and the separation of powers, and competition and innovation.

Prior to working at the White House, Mr. Loyola was a senior researcher and writer at the American Enterprise Institute working on U.S. cyber policy and also served as a senior fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty and the Texas Public Policy Foundation. He has extensive experience in the United States Senate, having served on the professional staff of Senator Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) and as counsel to the U.S. Senate Republican Policy Committee.

“CEI is excited to have a respected thinker and policy maker in Mario Loyola join our team,” said CEI President Kent Lassman. “Mario’s experience working in the executive branch, on Capitol Hill, and with respected think tanks will add valuable perspective to the CEI team. We welcome him and look forward to his great work on a wide range of policy issues.”
