New Video: What if We Decided to Consume Nothing?

Washington, D.C., November 21, 2007—The Bureaucrash Activist Network today released a new video satirizing the anti-consumer event “Buy Nothing Day.” The video takes the ideology that consumption of consumer goods is a bad thing to its logical conclusion – a day where people are expected to not only buy nothing, but to consume nothing at all. The result is dramatized to haunting effects.

Buy Nothing Day was created by the group Adbusters, and falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving, traditionally one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Unlike the anti-capitalist mentality of the organizers of Buy Nothing Day, Bureaucrash members consider a vibrant retail economy to be a good thing – a sign that both buyers and sellers are meeting in the market place to satisfy their own needs and wants without direction or interference.
