Dr. Baliunas will discuss new scientific findings on how the sun impacts global climate. According to the study, changes in the sun’s magnetism are closely correlated to temperatures in the Earth’s lower troposphere as measured by satellite-borne instruments.

Dr. Baliunas is senior scientist at the George C. Marshall Institute and an astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Along with her colleague, Dr. Willie Soon, Dr. Baliunas has narrowed the uncertainties surrounding the sun’s role in global warming. Her remarks represent her own opinions and do not necessarily reflect those of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics.
